À propos de ces cours
L’anglais général est le cours par lequel la plupart des gens commencent, et il y a une raison à cela. Il couvre la grammaire, le vocabulaire, la lecture, l’écriture, l’écoute et la parole ensemble, plutôt que d’isoler une compétence. Si vous ne savez pas encore quel type de cours correspond à vos objectifs, c’est la solution par défaut.
Les cours sont construits autour de la parole et de l’action, et non du silence et des feuilles de travail. Vous passerez le temps de cours à discuter, à travailler sur des situations réelles et à prendre l’habitude de penser en anglais plutôt que de traduire dans votre tête. Les niveaux vont du débutant complet à avancé, et chaque école vous soumet un test avant votre premier cours afin que vous atterrissiez dans le bon groupe.
De quoi dépend le prix
Dans les écoles que nous répertorions, l’anglais général s’étend actuellement de £26 à £1 425 par semaine, dans 40 écoles du Royaume-Uni proposant 194 cours. C’est une gamme large car elle couvre des produits très différents sous un même label : un cours de groupe standard d’un côté, et un séjour résidentiel ou un programme exécutif individuel de l’autre. La plupart des cours de jour en groupes standard se situent entre environ £175 et £378 par semaine. Ce qui fait varier le prix : le nombre d’heures de cours par semaine, la taille des classes (les mini-groupes et les cours particuliers coûtent plus cher par heure), si l’hébergement est regroupé et l’emplacement de l’école.
Combien de temps durent les cours et quand commencent-ils
La durée des cours varie d’une semaine à une année complète, et vous choisissez le bloc qui correspond à votre visa, votre budget ou la durée de votre absence. La plupart des écoles qui proposent l’anglais général proposent des dates de début glissantes, généralement tous les lundis, afin que vous ne soyez pas obligé d’attendre un trimestre fixe. Un plus petit nombre d’écoles proposent des dates d’admission fixes, généralement des écoles qui planifient les cours autour d’un emploi du temps de groupe.
Comparer les cours
Une fois que vous connaissez approximativement le nombre de semaines dont vous avez besoin et votre budget, les détails qui séparent un cours d’un autre sont les heures par semaine (15 est la norme, les options intensives durent de 20 à 30), la taille des classes et si l’école est accréditée par le British Council. Comparez-les avec le prix plutôt qu’avec le prix lui-même, car un cours moins cher avec moins d’heures d’enseignement par semaine n’est pas automatiquement la meilleure offre.
